Asian Americans on Broadway present concert events starring some of Broadway's most prominent Asian American actors. Weaving personal stories of their journeys to the Great White Way with music ranging from the classic standards of Rodgers and Hammerstein to the rock sounds of "Rent" and "Miss Saigon," "OPENING DOORS has something for everyone. Whether you are a savvy theatre-goer or have never been to a Broadway show before, this is an opportunity to have Broadway come to you.

All of our performers have had leading or featured roles in such diverse Broadway shows as "Miss Saigon," "Avenue Q," "Rent," "Beauty and the Beast,"  "Cinderella, " "The King and I," "A Chorus Line," and many,  many  more. Our artists represent the pinnacle of Asian American talent, and  each  exemplify the result of years of training, hard work, and tenacity.

Sure you've heard of Lea Salonga, but have you heard the story of Yuka Takara?  As a college student, Yuka came to New York City on a dance scholarship, and 2 weeks later found herself in the Broadway bound revival of "Flower Drum Song" as Lea Salonga's understudy.  Yuka impressed the producers so much that they offered her the starring role in the show's First National Tour.  She just finished a run as Connie Wong in the current Broadway revival of "A Chorus Line."

Or how about Darren Lee? Growing up in Southern California, and hailing from an academic family, Darren chose the unconventional path and turned his love of dance into a successful career which includes winning Junior Star Search at age 11, performing in 10 Broadway shows, and dancing in the Oscar-winning movie "Chicago."
